செம்மொழி என்னும் சிறப்புடன் விளங்கும் மொழி தமிழாகும். தமிழ் மொழியின் செவ்வியல் தன்மைக்கு ஆதாரமாகமாக விளங்குவன சங்ககால இலக்கியங்களாகும். இரண்டாயிரம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முற்பட்ட சங்ககால இலக்கியங்களைப் பற்றி முழுமையாக அறிவதற்கு இலக்கணம் தொடர்பான ஆய்வுகள் மிகவும் இன்றியமையாததாகும். சங்ககால இலக்கியங்களின் மொழிக்கூறுகள் தனித்தனியாகவே ஆராயப்பட வேண்டியிருக்கிறது. அந்தவகையில் சங்ககால எட்டுத்தொகை நூல்களில் ஒன்றாக விளங்கும் பதிற்றுப்பத்துப் பாடல்களில் உரிச் சொற்களின் பயன்பாட்டைத் தொல்காப்பியத்தின் அடிப்படையில் இக் கட்டுரை ஆராய முற்படுகிறது.

Tamil language is a classical language known for its rich heritage. The classical nature of the Tamil language is primarily supported by the Sangam-era literature. To fully understand the Sangam literature, which dates back over two thousand years, grammatical studies are essential. The linguistic features of Sangam-era literature need to be examined individually. In this context, this article attempts to study the use of case suffixes (uris cholgal) in the Pathitrupathu poems—one of the Ettuthokai (Eight Anthologies) of Sangam literature—based on the principles of Tolkappiyam.
